  • For the most part, it’s up to you!

Community sessions require clothing, but private rentals, it’s players choice. Many enjoy wearing towel wraps, large t-shirts, or swim gear.

  • No! That being said, use good judgement. Little ones cannot tolerate heat and are unable to regulate their temperature fully until they are past puberty. Children and elderly should spend shorter spurts of time in the sauna.

  • Personal preference will win again here, however, traditional saunas range in temperature from 160-180 degrees Fahrenheit.

We have differing bench heights, so folks can enjoy varying degrees of heat (higher= hotter)

  • New sauna users should have shorter spurts of heat, maxing out around 10 mins. As you progress in your sauna journey, your tolerance for heat will increase and then so can your time.

Any time you feel *too* hot, dizzy, or unwell, then it is definitely time for a break from the heat and to cool the body down.

  • Heat time varies from about 1-1.5 hours for full temperature.

We heat the sauna for you on community session days, so you can enjoy your full 90 mins of time in a sauna thats ready.

  • Our saunas can comfortably fit 8 seated sauna goers.

  • People will benefit the *most* from regular sauna use of 2+ times per week. But even a singular one off sauna session will still offer plenty of benefits!

 Rules of the Sauna

The basic breakdown:

  1. DRINK WATER

Before-during-after sauna sessions. Lots of it! We have reverse osmosis filtered water available onsite included in community sessions, and herbal infused waters are also available.

  2. GRAB A TOWEL

This will be incredibly helpful for your heavy sweat sessions and will help you feel more comfortable. Make sure to add on one of our fast drying and organic linen towels when you’re checking out. Linen towels are available to purchase as well, please ask onsite for more info and availability.

  3. NO SHOES in the sauna

We have space for you to store your shoes in covered areas on the porch.

  4. ONLY WOOD

Please only burn wood in the sauna stove. This is part of being respectful of the sauna, and also will ensure you have a lovely sauna experience. We have pre cut wood bundles that ensure you have everything you need for your burn. Each bundle will run 1.5-2hour long sauna sessions plus warm up time. If you would like add more bundles to your session, they are available during checkout.

  5. NO ALCOHOL IN THE SAUNA

This is one arena where the rule defaults to owners choice exclusively. Homestead Saunas does not allow drinking of any alcohol in the sauna. Trust us, it changes the vibe of your sauna session and you will lose the health benefits.
